Part Time, Fixed Term until 30 July 2021

As a senior imaging technician you will be responsible for the production of high quality digital images for the International Dunhuang Project. A keen eye for Quality and an excellent understanding of the importance of productivity and service delivery is key to the role. The International Dunhuang Project is a ground-breaking international collaboration to make information and images of all scrolls, manuscripts, paintings, textiles and artefacts from Dunhuang and archaeological sites of the Eastern Silk Road freely available on the Internet and to encourage their use through educational and research programs.

The role requires understanding and knowledge of photographing Lotus Sutra Scrolls in sections and then stitching the images together to form a whole. This requires a keen eye for detail, a thorough understanding of both imaging capture and post production software. Familiarity with Apple Mac systems and Phase One camera systems is essential as is a good working knowledge of colour management. The postholder will be expected to work under a matrix management structure with the Project Manager of the Lotus Sutra Manuscripts Digitisation Project, and work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues from Chinese Collections, Collection Management and Heritage Made Digital Portfolio team at the British Library.
