We are in the position to recruit a Senior Software Engineer to work at our site in Boston Spa. Our beautiful rural Boston Spa site is easily accessible by car from the A1M (J45 northbound, J46 southbound) and there are bus services which stop outside the main gates from local areas. On a day to day basis our Senior Software Engineer’s work with the Application Support and Business Services teams to ensure early consultation on service issues and that development deliverables are fit-for-purpose in a production environment, working in Active Partnership with the wider Library, to clarify and define development tasks. We work hard to ensure that our customers - both internal and external - are delivered robust, easy to use and well maintained systems.
It is essential that you have Excellent knowledge and experience in software development using Agile Methodologies such as Scrum. You will Working with the Application Support and Business Services teams to ensure early consultation on service issues and that development deliverables are fit-for-purpose in a production environment
You will deal effectively with matters of a confidential nature. With your highly developed experience of testing multiple scenarios in large software packages, you will easily interface with colleagues at every level.
It is possible that you may be expected to occasionally travel between the Library's main sites of Boston Spa and St Pancras (London) or to external meetings with third parties, e.g. software vendors or other Legal Deposit Library teams. All travel is discussed and agreed ahead of time to ensure that our employees have a healthy work/life balance
