Description
Full Time, Fixed Term
to 31 March 2019
The British Library in China: connecting through culture and
learning project is an ambitious three-year cultural exchange with Chinese
partner institutions from 2016 to 2019. The programme includes a series of
exhibitions across China, a new website specifically designed for Chinese
audiences, Chinese social media accounts for the Library WeChat and Weibo and a
structured programme of knowledge exchange.
In the
last phase of the Project, the Project Management Team is looking for a
proactive, highly-organised Project Assistant to assist the Project Manager in delivering
a diverse series of work packages, with a special focus on a knowledge exchange
strand and a pop up exhibition in Hong Kong. The post holder will also provide
administrative and logistic support to the wider Project team and will work
closely with internal and external stakeholders in both the UK and China.
The successful candidate should
demonstrate high levels of time-management, administrative and organisational
skills, as well as strong communication skills in both English and Chinese at a
professional level. Experience of working in an international environment and an
ability to work against tight deadline are also essential to this role.
In return we offer a competitive salary
and a number of excellent benefits. Our
pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can
become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes 20.9%.
Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible
working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the
week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top
of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.
