 The Research Services department has recently embarked on a programme of work – Everything Available - to develop a range of services to researchers as part of Living Knowledge, the British Library’s vision for 2015-2023. The Everything Available portfolio will deliver a range of services for researchers of all kinds that will encompass improved discovery and access for both its own collections and that of third parties, the management and sharing of research outputs and an enhanced user experience. The Library is seeking a Solutions Architect to help shape the technical infrastructure that will support these services. Based within the Technology Architecture team the post holder will work closely with business and project managers to design customer focused solutions within the Everything Available portfolio and assess and advise on the potential of new technologies to help meet business requirements. This will include providing technical architect expertise from project conception to delivery and contributing to the definition and management of the technical architecture that underpins future development.

You will have a degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a subject relevant to IT and/or management of electronic information. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of techniques and methodologies such as use of API’s, architectural patterns, web development, development processes etc.  Experience of the delivery of data-intensive architectures including search optimisation would be beneficial. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent influencing and persuasion skills.
