Fixed Term Contract for 1 year

The British Library’s ‘Two Centuries of Indian Print’, is an exciting project which aims to catalogue and digitise the Library’s unique collections of early printed books from South Asia, dating from 1713 to 1914.  The first phases of this project will involve the digitisation of the British Library’s collection of unique early printed Bengali, Assamese and Sylheti books. The part time Project Support Officer will support the project workflows to ensure deadlines for the cataloguing, digitisation and transferring of images to the Library website are met.  The post-holder will also be responsible for the quality assurance of images to set project guidelines; recording rights information to agreed policy; supporting the retrieval of selected books; as well as other project administrative and curatorial support as required. 

Successful candidate will be highly organised with excellent time, project management and IT skills and experience of working with collection items and/or digitisation projects. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues across the project team, and wider organisation.  A  knowledge of/or interest in history, literature, language or culture of South Asia or a related field, or equivalent knowledge based on professional or research experience would also be highly desirable, as would an ability to read Bengali or other South Asian language(s).
