The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the efficient running of the BL’s IT Service Desk. You will be responsible for ensuring that Service Desk and Desktop processes are adhered to and developed using continuous improvement methodology.

Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing are a must, and you will have had extensive experience of dealing with customers or users. You will be able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads with conflicting time pressures. It is expected that you will manage day to day escalations of calls and be able to act as Major Incident Manager, when more senior colleagues are not available.
A strong interest in IT and up to date knowledge of end user computing will help you contribute to the testing and deployment of new systems and services within the Personal Computing Services team.
In return we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits.  Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes 20.9%. Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.
