The world is undergoing an information revolution and the British Library is at the forefront of that revolution. Our IT systems provide the means to ensure that the Library can safely store and provide access to all content (digital and physical) created and acquired by the Library, forever.

 

Working within the application support team, the technical service manager for the Discovery and Access team is responsible for the provision of search facilities across the British Library archives and the access to this content following a successful search.  The team manage and maintain a number of instances of Exlibris’s Primo application containing over 80M records, the access service for the Digital Library following a successful search on Explore and the Nginx load balancing facilities fronting a number of Library web sites.

 

The Discovery and Access team, working in conjunction with colleagues in Ingest and Metadata and Corporate Services form the Application Support teams within the British Library, the post holder will be responsible for a number of key systems, leading and managing a team of 5-application support specialists, liaising with business users on both service improvements and to discuss any failures. 

 

Experience of commercial packages such as Primo and SFX from ExLibris, NGINX or Shibboleth would be an advantage, alongside experience of data migration and normalisation from multiple data sources.
