The British Library is seeking an experienced Business Manager for their Imaging and Digitisation Services. The Department currently undertakes a wide range of digitisation on British Library and external customer collections.
As Business Manager you will lead the expansion of the commercial imaging pipeline that supports the Library’s Commercial Strategy. Additionally you will proactively develop new markets as well as managing existing internal and external customer relationships. You will have a solid commercial background with experience of tendering, preparing proposals and business cases.
You will also be responsible for the Northern digitisation operation working alongside colleagues in both sites to develop a joined up digitisation strategy. You will be the key lead on many major projects relating to imaging and digitisation, including the implementation of a new, integrated “end-to-end” imaging service work flow. You will manage staff and budgets in accordance with the above strategy and ensuring compliance with the Libraries policies. You will have strong change management skills, with a proven record of delivering better and more cost effective operations and services. Good team and project leadership / management skills are essential and the ability to lead and motivate a high profile professional team with demanding performance standards.
Experienceof managing key stakeholders and building good customer relationships is essential; as well as excellent entrepreneurial and negotiation skills, with a proven track record of selling ‘value add’ services. A strong commercial background and good business acumen associated with information/digital services together with a “results driven” mind-set is required. A good understanding of Copyright and Intellectual Property would be advantageous.
