In this role the successful post holder will work in both the National Newspaper Building & the Additional Storage Building (B31) retrieving collection items for both the Reading Rooms and BL On Demand. The collections are further serviced by addition of new items and stock moves into the buildings from the London collections. The demand for items to the Reading Rooms is growing and is likely to further increase in the future.

 

This is a busy role in a friendly and productive team. The work mainly involves processing London Reading Room Requests, including matching and issuing from the collections, use of the Warehouse Management System; BL on Demand (BLoD); checking the BL catalogue and other bibliographic tools; returning collection items; processing 2 hour BLoD requests.

 

The work in both areas is predominantly based at a workstation and can be physically demanding requiring a lot of walking, standing and manual handling, opportunities for desk based work is limited. However the work is varied and interesting with the opportunity to become involved in work which requires more in depth checking to sort out Reading Room /stock queries and project work as/when it arises.

 

Suitable candidates will be highly organised and confident dealing with more complex queries with a degree of numerical accuracy, will be confident to follow a steep learning curve and interacting with various IT based systems.

 

**The post needs to be filled 100% the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the B31 late rota **
