The British Library is the UK’s national library, one of six legal deposit libraries. It holds one of the largest collections of printed material in the world, containing over 150 million items and featuring almost every known language. We also have a growing digital and sound archive and deliver key programmes of work relating to improving our collections, growing our estate and building partnerships and engagement both nationally and internationally.
In the Library’s Finance Department, we not only help support the Library manage and deliver to budgets to meet our ambitions, but also manage key aspects of business planning, report on compliance with key policies, manage KPIs and provide advice and support on risk management.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and confident individual to take on a role on a fixed term basis within Finance’s Planning, Performance and Assurance Team. You will undertake a wide range of activities to support the Library’s risk and performance management frameworks and provide advice and support to senior managers across the Library.
The role will include:
· supporting the delivery of the Library’s corporate planning process and formation of annual business plans;
· Contributing to and aiding in the coordination of risk management best practice;
· Developing and delivering high quality management information and KPIs and promoting self-service reporting tools;
· Supporting the review and refresh of finance policies and the associated communication and training activities; and
· Aiding in the delivery of compliance and assurance processes.
The ability to be proactive and have a willingness to take on a range of tasks and develop new skills is essential for the role. You will also have effective communication skills and confidence in working withsenior managers, with a background relevant to sharing and promoting best practice. You will have a recognised accountancy qualification or be part qualified or be appropriately qualified by experience and have excellent IT skills. The role is based at the British Library’s Boston Spa site but will also require occasional travel to the Library’s London site for meetings.
